FDF Response
June 2007
On 26 March, FSA published a draft programme to explore ways of reducing the
average amount of saturated fat in people's diets and help make it easier for
people to eat more healthily. FSA's consultation sought views on four proposed
work streams:
- Promoting consumer awareness and understanding of healthy eating.
- Encouraging increased availability of reduced saturated fat and energy
alternatives to mainstream products. Encouraging the uptake of these options by
consumers.
- Encouraging increased availability of smaller portion sizes for some products
and encourage their uptake by consumers.
- Encourage the food industry to improve the nutrition profile of its mainstream
products by reducing saturated fat and energy values through reformulation.
