Food Safety
foodlink - guide to food safety
The foodlink programme, launched in 1992, demonstrates the food and drink manufacturing
industry's commitment to food safety and the consumer. It provides our industry
with extensive opportunities to build partnerships.
The programme is made up of several strands, all with the overarching objective
of raising awareness amongst consumers of all ages about the simple steps that they can take to keep their food safe.
This year Food Safety Week took place from Monday 9 June to Friday 13 June 2008.
The theme of the UK-wide campaign was "GermWatch", designed to raise awareness
of good food hygiene practice especially the 4Cs (Cleaning, Cooking, Chilling
and
avoiding Cross-contamination). The Food Standards Agency is now lead sponsor of
the week.
The foodlink website provides food safety resources aimed at awareness raising activities and for
teachers to support classwork.
The programme is organised by FDF in association with the Food Standards Agency
(FSA).
At local level the programme is supported across the UK by environmental health
departments, health promotion and infection control teams, schools, companies
and individuals organising awareness raising activities.
