On Tuesday 2nd February, the Food & Drink Federation and the Scottish Food
Drink Federation hosted a Westminster-based event for Scotland's MPs to discuss
role of the industry in Scotland and how we could work together in future.
With 24 Members of Parliament attending, SNP Westminster Group Leader Angus
Robertson commented that it was the dinner with the largest attendance of SNP
since the 2015 General Election. With the SNP holding 54 of the 59 seats in
Scotland, it was unsurprising that the Party also occupied most of the seats
our dinner table.
Hosted by Calum Kerr MP, the SNP Spokesman for Environment and Rural Affairs and
Vice-Chair of the All Party Group for Food & Drink Manufacturing, the event
allowed politicians to discuss issues directly with representatives from the FDF,
SFDF and manufacturers. Topics included employment and skills, exports, threats to
fishing, and food and drink provenance.
