Case Study: Coca-Cola Enterprises
In 2004 Coca-Cola Enterprises launched an enterprise education
competition for secondary school children in Yorkshire and the
Humber called 'The Real Business Challenge'.
The competition
proved to be extremely successful in delivering community benefits,
so in 2008 Coca-Cola Enterprises decided to roll out the campaign
nationally.
The National Enterprise Competition was created with
the vision o
f being a legacy education programme for the 2012
Olympics and beyond.
Endorsed by the Department for Children
Schools and Families, Coca-Cola Enterprises has successfully
rolled out the competition across the Midlands, Yorkshire and the
Humber, South Wales, Scotland and West London.
The original Coca-Cola Enterprises scheme, The Real Business
Challenge - which inspired the national Enterprise Competition –
continues to thrive, and is aimed at Year 10 students. It is designed
to give young people the opportunity to develop employability skills,
which help ensure they have a successful future.
The involvement
of Coca-Cola Enterprises also has the added benefit of assisting
Regional Development Agencies to engage other businesses to
support activities within schools.
The Real Business Challenge is evaluated by teachers and students
alike, and in 2008 100% of teachers positively rated the challenge.
