In the News
Food and drink related stories regularly appear in the UK's national and
regional media, covering a wide range of topics.
Below is a summary of some of
the main
food news topics currently being played out in the newspapers:
- Nutrition labelling and GDAs: Manufacturers are committed to providing consumers with clearer food labelling
that will help them make healthier choices.
- The environment: this continues to be a focus for the media, at the moment coverage is being
generated as a result of a series of announcements by retailers and
manufacturers
undertaking environmental activities, and the Government's Climate Change Bill
which is due to come into force shortly.
- Food prices: over the course of the year, prices of food and drink products have been
widely debated particularly with the rises seen in the prices of products in
shops.
- Obesity: the Government's Change4Life campaign has brought the media's focus once more
to this issue.
- Food safety: this is the food and drink manufacturing industry's number one priority. The
most recent activity on this front has been promoting the importance of
checking
'Use By' dates to ensure the food you are eating is safe.
