SFDF was one of only two industry representatives on the high level Ministerial
Group - the Joint Obesity Group – that is responsible for overseeing the Obesity Action Plan which was launched in March 2011.
The Action Plan lists preventative actions under 4 themes:
- Energy consumption - controlling exposure, demand and consumption of excessive
quantities of high calorific goods and drinks
- Energy expenditure - Increase physical activity
- Early years - establishing positive health behaviour habits
and skills early on
- Working lives - Increasing responsibility of organisations for health and well
being of employees.
SFDF is also a member of the Food Implementation Group set up by the Scottish
Government to work on the energy consumption initiatives set out in the Action
Plan.
