Zero Waste Scotland: Focus on Food Waste

Back to events

1 September 2010

Event, Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa, 1 West Victoria Dock Road, Dundee. DD1 3JP

The impact of reducing the UK's 6.7 billion tonnes of food waste in terms of carbon dioxide emissions is equivalent to taking one in four cars off the road. In addition, this waste is estimated to cost businesses and householders £10.2 billion per annum.

The Scottish Government is currently taking a zero waste approach to landfill to both reduce climate change impact and develop high re-use and recycling rates for all waste. Proposed future landfill bans of materials such as food waste and mandatory segregation will require companies to implement new methods of waste management.

Zero Waste Scotland will be running a series of workshops focusing on the issues surrounding food waste during 2010. Register now to learn how you could realise cost savings through reducing food waste. Hear about local service providers operating in your area and how other businesses have successfully dealt with their food waste.
